This is the first time ever that this image is being seen. It will be one of 40 images that is part of the Jerry Pritikin- "San Francisco
in the 1970s" Exhibit at Chicago's Gage Gallery . Opening on June 3rd. This photo was taken on Halloween Eve, on Polk Street in 1977. Because there was always the possibility that there could be outside agitators at this gay event... there was always a contingent of policemen on hand. I did not realize the signicance of this image for over 30 years. It was only on one of my proof sheets. I decided to reverse the usual "PROTECT and SERVE" slogan...
